Bot reference

System page

Setting the bank and the betting mode, reading the recent bets table, and settling a bet by hand.

The System page is where you set the two things every system needs before anything else: how much it's allowed to lose, and whether it's betting real money or on paper.

Bank

The Bank is the amount the system has to bet with. It moves up and down as bets win and lose, and it can be different from your actual Betfair balance. Two things follow from it:

  • It's the most the system can lose. If a bet's liability is bigger than what's left in the bank, the stake is cut down to fit, and if it can't be cut down enough the bet is cancelled.
  • Every staking plan calculates from it. A plan that stakes a percentage of the bank, for example, uses this figure.

Betting mode

  • Simulation: the bot records virtual bets. Nothing is sent to Betfair, no funds are used and nothing shows in your Betfair history. It's the safe way to test a system.
  • Real Money: bets go on your Betfair account for real, and you need enough funds there to cover them.

Simulation has two small quirks. Results take longer to arrive than in Real Money mode, because they come from alternative sources rather than straight from the Betfair API, and very occasionally one of those sources is wrong. Dead-heat results don't show in simulation.

Click Save Changes after changing Bank or Betting mode, or the change is lost.

Recent bets

Bets from the last 24 hours, refreshing every ten seconds.

  • Date: date of the race.
  • Market: the Betfair market name and time. Click it to open the market on Betfair; click (SL) to open the race on Sporting Life, where it's listed there.
  • Selection: the runner.
  • Type: Back or Lay.
  • Stake, Odds, Result: the bet.
  • Bet P/L: profit or loss on the bet, before commission.
  • Race P/L: profit or loss across all bets in the race, after commission. Shown only when Show race P/L is ticked under the table.
  • Placed, Settled: when the bet went on and when it was settled.
  • Info: SIM for a simulation bet, BSP for a bet at Betfair SP, IP for in-play, and a red cross for a cancelled bet. Click the cross for the reason.

Under the table: Refresh, Export to Excel, Page size (bets per page) and the Show race P/L tick box.

Settling a bet by hand

If a bet has been placed but not settled, you can set its result yourself. Click in the bet's Result column and choose Cancel the bet, Set runner WON or Set runner LOST. Won and lost refer to the runner, not your bet, so a lay on a runner you set to LOST is a winning lay. You can only do this once per bet; a result already set can't be changed.
