Betting conditions
The checks a bet must pass before it's placed: the standard ones (odds, runners, matched money, book, rank), the additional ones you build yourself, and the custom ones.
Betting conditions decide which bets go on and which don't. If a bet fails any one of them, it's cancelled. The conditions on this page are global: they apply to every bet in every race on the system. Conditions for a single race are set in the Edit race form, and for a single runner in Runner conditions.
There are three groups: standard, additional and custom.
Standard conditions
- Min/Max odds: the odds range. Runners outside it are no bet. Which price is checked is set by Prices to use on the Settings page.
- Min/Max runners: the number of runners in the race must fall in this range.
- Min/Max matched amount: the total money matched on the market must fall in this range.
- Min/Max odds in relative market: an odds range for the runner in the other market. Win and place markets are each other's relative market, so if you're betting in the win market this checks the runner's place price, and vice versa. With the normal Min/Max odds it lets you check both prices.
- Max back book %, Min lay book %: limits on the market's over-round.
- Market rank: the runner must be a particular favourite. 3 means third favourite. Several positions are allowed by writing them together with no separators: 345 means third, fourth or fifth. If a race also has its own rank in the Edit race form, the runner only has to match one of the two, so in practice set one or the other.
- Save changes: nothing takes effect until you click it.
Additional conditions
These are rules you build by comparing two values. You can add as many as you like and every one of them must pass for the bet to go on. Add creates one, Edit changes one, Delete removes one.
Each condition compares a left value with a right value. What's available on the right depends on what you chose on the left: a selection's price can be compared with a favourite's price or a number; the market's matched volume only with a number.
Values you can compare
- Selection Price: the price of the runner the bot is about to bet. Compare with a fixed number or with one of the favourites' prices.
- Favourite Price: the price of a favourite. An Index box appears to say which one: 3 means the third favourite. Compare with another favourite, with your runner, or with a number.
- Selection Rank: your runner's position among the favourites: 2 for second favourite and so on. Compare with a number only. To require first, second or third favourite: Selection Rank < Number(4).
- Market Matched: money matched on the whole market. Compare with a number only.
- Number: a fixed value for the other side of a comparison. A Value box appears for it.
Comparison operators
The Op drop-down between the two values: > left must be greater than right, < left must be less than right, = equal, != not equal.
Arithmetic
When the right value is a Favourite Price or Selection Price, two more boxes appear so you can adjust it: plus, minus, multiply or divide by a number. "Selection Price > Favourite Price(1) + 5" means your runner must be more than five points bigger than the favourite.
Custom conditions
Custom conditions can check things the rules above can't. Each has its own settings at the bottom of the Betting conditions page. There are two:
- Suspend betting: pauses and resumes the system after a run of winning or losing selections. See Suspend betting.
- Price change: finds steamers and drifters by how the price has moved over a period before the bet. See Price change.
Three examples of additional conditions
- Your runner must be at least 1.5 points shorter than the second favourite, and the second favourite at least 4.0 shorter than the third: Selection Price < Favourite Price(2) − 1.5, and Favourite Price(2) < Favourite Price(3) − 4.0.
- Your runner must not be first or second favourite: Selection Rank > Number(2).
- Your runner's price must be at least 15% bigger than the favourite's: Selection Price > Favourite Price(1) × 1.15.
