Load races
Filtering Betfair's racing and greyhound markets by country, meeting, type, distance and runners, choosing selections, and having it all reload every day.
The Load races form is how a rule-based system gets its races: filter the markets you want on the right, tick the ones to load on the left, choose how the bot should pick selections, and load them. Tick one box and it does the same again every day.
The layout
The left side lists the markets that match your filters. (H) means horse racing, (D) means dogs. Every market is ticked by default; untick any you don't want. The right side holds the filters, on two tabs, Horses and Dogs, with a tick box for each at the top that controls whether that sport's markets are shown at all.
Only today's races limits the list to today. Leave it ticked unless you mean to load tomorrow's races as well; it's an easy way to load twice as many races as you meant to.
Horses filter
- Countries: tick the countries to include.
- Win and Place: which market types to include.
- Name contains: keyword filter on the market name, best used for meetings. Use Betfair's meeting abbreviations, not full names.
Wolv,Kempshows only Wolverhampton and Kempton;!Wolv,!Kemp,!Leicshows everything except those three. For UK racing the filter also looks at the race description, race type (Chase, Hurdle, Flat and so on) and surface (All weather, Turf), soHcaporHrdwork too. Put&in front of a keyword to say it must be present. - Distance (f): filter by distance in furlongs, for races where Betfair gives the distance in furlongs. A mile is 8 furlongs, so races under two miles is 0 to 16.
- Distance (m): the same for races given in metres, such as French racing.
- Runners: filter by the number of listed runners.
Dogs filter
- UK, AUS: countries to include.
- Win, Place: market types.
- Name contains: as for horses.
- Class A: filter by race class (A1, A2, A3 and so on).
- Distance (m): filter by distance in metres.
Buttons
- Apply filter: refreshes the list on the left to match the filters. Click it after every change.
- Load selected races: loads the ticked markets into the system and takes you back to the Races page.
- Save & Close: keeps your filter settings but loads nothing.
- Select all and Unselect all: tick or untick everything in the list.
Selections
Below the filters you choose one or more selection rules, and they're applied to every race you load: first favourite, second favourite, a price range, the Racing Post forecast and so on. Each option is explained on the Selections page.
Reload markets each day
Tick Reload markets each day and set a time, and the bot runs this form for you every day at that time: it applies your filters, finds the selections and loads the races into the system. Automatic loading starts from the next day; load today's by hand with Load selected races. This is the setting that turns a rule like "lay the first favourite in every UK handicap" into a set-and-forget system.
The usual routine
- Set the filters for Horses, Dogs or both.
- Click Apply filter.
- Untick any markets in the list you don't want.
- Tick the selections you want to bet.
- Click Load selected races.
Loaded races only produce bets when betting is active on the system.
Right-click in the market list for a menu that includes or excludes a whole meeting at once. It shows the first and last race times for the meeting; "n/d" means the meeting starts the next day.
