Price change
A condition that only lets a bet through if the runner's price has moved by a set amount in the minutes before the bet: steamers, drifters, or neither.
Price change is a custom condition on the Betting conditions page. It measures how much a runner's price has moved over a period before the bet and only allows the bet if the move falls inside limits you set. A steamer is a runner whose price is shortening; a drifter is one whose price is lengthening.
Settings
- Enable condition: the condition is only checked when ticked.
- Values as %: ticked, the limits are percentages; unticked, they're price points.
- Min change: the lower limit on the move. Can be negative.
- Max change: the upper limit. Can be negative.
- Time before betting (sec): how long a period to measure over, counted back from the moment the bet is due. If bets fire 60 seconds before the off and this is 180, the move is measured from 240 seconds before the off to 60 seconds before.
The change is worked out as (price now − price then) ÷ price then for percentages, or simply price now − price then for points. Shortening prices give negative numbers.
Examples
In all three, the condition is enabled, Time before betting is 120, and bets fire 60 seconds before the off, so the move is measured from 180 seconds out to 60 seconds out.
Only bet steamers that have shortened by at least 50%. Values as %: yes. Min change −50. Max change −10000. A runner goes from 3.50 to 2.75: the change is (2.75 − 3.50) ÷ 3.50 = −21.4%. That's not as big a move as the −50% required, so no bet.
Bet as long as the price hasn't drifted more than 50%. Values as %: yes. Min change −10000. Max change 50. A runner goes from 3.50 to 5.0: the change is (5.0 − 3.50) ÷ 3.50 = +42.8%. Under the 50% ceiling, so the bet goes on.
Only bet drifters that have gone out by at least 3 points. Values as %: no. Min change 3. Max change 1000. A runner goes from 3.50 to 8.5: a move of 5 points, more than the 3 required, so the bet goes on.
