Betfair login
Connecting the bot to your Betfair account, what the status line tells you, and what the bot does and doesn't store.
The bot can't place anything until it's signed in to your Betfair account. That's done once, on the Betfair page, and the connection stays live until Betfair ends the session.
Signing in
- Click Betfair in the top menu.
- Enter your Betfair username and password and click Login to Betfair.
- Tick Remember username if you'd like your Betfair username shown in the top bar.
When the login succeeds you'll see a confirmation, and the top of every page shows Betfair status: signed in with your available funds next to it. A Logout from Betfair button appears on the same page for when you want to disconnect.
If the login fails
The bot tells you why. The three messages you might see:
- Betfair username or password is invalid. Check both and try again; it's the same login you use on the Betfair site.
- We are experiencing a technical problem. Something on our side or between us and Betfair. Try again later; if it persists, email help@punthub.co.uk.
- Your account is locked or suspended. That's your Betfair account, not the bot. Contact Betfair's helpdesk to unlock it.
What the bot stores
The bot doesn't keep your Betfair password. Your login details are passed straight to Betfair to open an API session, and what the bot keeps is the session token Betfair returns (a code used with each API call) and, if you ticked the box, your username, both encrypted. The flip side is that the bot can't log itself back in if Betfair drops the session, for example after major maintenance or a fault at their end. When that happens you'll get an email and you'll need to enter your login details again on the Betfair page before bets resume.
Your money stays in your Betfair account the whole time. The bot places bets through the Betfair API; it has no way to move funds in or out.
