Winning Trap

A greyhound selection that bets the trap which won the previous race, or a trap a set number along from it, with two worked examples.

Winning Trap selects a trap number based on the trap that won the last race. It's built for greyhounds. If you use it on horses it selects by position in the Betfair runner list instead, which is rarely what you want. Its settings are on the Extra Features page.

Settings

  1. Separate by meeting: ticked, the winning trap is taken from the previous race at the same meeting as the race about to be bet. Unticked, it's taken from the previous race in your race list, whichever meeting that was. Ticked makes more sense.
  2. Trap No. shift: adds to the winning trap number. Trap 2 won and the shift is 1: the bot bets Trap 3. Shift of −1: Trap 1. The default is 0, the same trap again. It wraps round: Trap 5 won with a shift of 2 gives 7, there are only six traps, so the bot bets Trap 1.
  3. If previous race's result is not known: sometimes, especially with Separate by meeting off, the previous result hasn't arrived when the next bet is due. Choose Bet on default trap or Cancel the bet.
  4. Default trap No.: the trap used for the first race of the day, and for unknown results if you chose that above.

Example 1

Separate by meeting: yes. Shift: 0. Unknown result: cancel the bet. Default trap: 1.
